Money.
Money. Yep, you need it for everything. Truth be told, I am naturally more of a spender than a saver. Let me insert a clip of me…😅
Okay, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. But, the sentiment is the same. I am not a naturally frugal person. I am getting better though, and one of the ways I’ve become more of a DIY girl is with my haircuts.
Saving Money with Shark Tank
I was up late one night binge watching Shark Tank, and I saw a product that allowed you to cut your own hair.😱 I was so impressed by this product and inspired to try it out that I ordered one from Amazon. I figured if I could cut my own hair, and the hair of our three children with this product for at least one time it would be worth it to try.
A haircut for my hair typically costs around 25-30 dollars and a child’s haircut is very similar in price. A creaclip retails on Amazon for $30.00 and is available on PRIME. – Yes. Please!
See how Easy!
In order to use the product, just follow a few easy steps.
- Brush out all the tangles in your hair.
- Put the creaclip on towards the top of your hair.
- Make sure it’s level.
- pull down to where you want to start cutting.
- Cut.
Benefits of cutting my own hair
As a mom of three very young children, I just don’t have the extra time to head out to the salon. I also don’t really change my hairstyle that often. For this season of life, I prefer my hair to have enough length to put into a braid or a bun and be on the go with my family. The Creaclip saves me TIME.
The creaclip also saves me money. Even if I only use it 2 or 3 times, I have more than broken even on the cost of the product.

Oh my friend has this and cuts her own hair! It’s amazing!!
I never thought i’d be cutting my own hair – but when a trim is so pricey and I have to pay for 3 haircuts, it’s worth every penny!
That looks interesting! I wonder if there’s a way to cut your own hair? I rarely have someone at home with me so being able to do it totally by myself would be awesome. Thanks for the awareness of this product.
Yes – there are some videos on youtube that show instructions for cutting your own hair. I just didn’t try it (yet).
Very interesting! I’ve never heard of this. Can you add a photo of you using it on a child? I’m curious how it works. Can you use it for boys haircuts?
I hadn’t heard of it until we saw it on Shark Tank. When cutting a child’s hair you do it exactly the same as on the video for mine. I don’t cut my husband’s hair, so I’m not sure how it would work on men’s hair. But I believe the smaller clip is what you’d use. Creaclip has a very active Youtube Channel with lots of tutorials!
these are great tips momma! Have to save in every way possible! the Hair looks great on all of you ladies 🙂
I don’t know why people are so polarized thinking it is wrong that my husband cuts my hair or that it is awesome, I am blessed that he does a great job trimming my hair. My mother thought it was terrible, a control thing. But I explained having him trim my hair as I want is not a control thing. But her issue is she thinks I should cut my hair short andshe made me wear it when I was a child. So I know it is her control issue. She is very happy with my husband cutting my boys’ hair, of course they each want theirs kept short, and my younger tells us he needs one, so the boys never argue about getting their haircuts. It does save me a lot of money, time and hassle. It take him about ten minutes to do each of the boys. He does use clippers with the different attachments and uses the scissors and comb for the longer hair on top and to blend the longer hair on top with the shorter sides. So he doesn’t cut steps. He is a perfectionist which is fine with me as I don’t want my boys embarassed having a wonky haircut. I figure at $15 per haircut including tip, plus transportation costs, it saves me over $60 and three hours not wasted, i get mine trimmed 5-6 times a year at $75 savings each time, so that is close to a grand. And my husband cuts his own using a combination of the clippers and scissors and comb in the bathroom mirror each month. My husband’s family always did haircuts at home. His mom and aunt were pretty good and would give haircuts to their nephews and nieces as well. So maybe he inherited the talent from his mother’s side. He still trims his adult daughter’s hair who is married as she said her dad does a great job, she trusts him and she likes getting her hair cut for free. So doing it at home can be done with great results, and it is a significant savings. I tell people I am not being cheap, I am being smart, I getter better results. Sounds like you are as well.
Thanks for sharing your story. By cutting our own hair, we are able to save more money and also have more time together as a family. I think it’s important for you to personally feel comfortable with your stylist – sounds like your husband is a great choice!
Yes, I am very comfortable with him as my stylist and the family barber. We are very busy as most families are and it is just so convenient to tell him the boys need haircuts and he does them, especially when they have an event at school, pictures, a wedding or other family event to go to. I trust him more than I do going to the salon, my mother keeps asking why I don’t go to the salon to be pampered, I can afford it. I tell her I want my hair done as I want it done and to me that is pampering. And I don’t want to waste half a day going to the salon, dealing with the hassle or spending alot of money and then being unhappy with the results.
These are such great, practical tips!
