Gold Coast Railroad Museum

Just before you read the entrance to the zoo, you will see a couple of signs for the Gold Coast Railroad Museum. This cute little non-profit organization is packed with charm and history. It opened in the summer of 1956 and continues to be a unique location for rail enthusiasts of all ages to explore.

Read the full history here.

Hours and Pricing

At the time of this post, the hours are from 10a – 4p Monday through Friday and 11a – 4p on Saturdays and Sunday. The cost to enter the museum is $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for children ages 2-12.

FREE FIRST SATURDAY

The museum offers free entrance on the first Saturday of the month. My sister was in town visiting on the first Saturday of July so our family decided to go check out the museum on that day. If you are planning to head over to the museum on one of the free admission days, go early. When we first arrived the trains were fairly empty so we were able to explore, take some fun photos and take our time. As the day went on the museum did fill up.

What to Expect

There are several rows of trains, some of them you can go inside and some of them you are only able to view through the window. For example the Presidential Pullman Passenger Car “Ferdinand Magellan”. This is truly a must-see at the museum. It is the only passenger railcar to be designated as a National Historic Landmark. In order to preserve the car for future generations, you can only view the car on a guided tour.

Train Rides are also available on the weekends for just a few dollars a person. You can select from a small “link” train to one of the speed trains.

About The Mouse Boutique

Central Florida locals, Michele, and her sister have been selling t-shirts since 2014. I met Michele when she joined my Disney Fans Facebook group I was so honored when she asked me to select a few shirts for my family to review. If you saw my unboxing video you know that I couldn’t decide so she sent me a sampling based on our families interests!

Sometihing that I found to be unique about The Mouse Boutique is their approach to creating the shirts. Instead of typical vinyl on a fabric t-shirt The Mouse Boutique (TMB) does things a little differently.

All of the designs are custom created and printed directly onto the shirt with a process that fuses the design into the fabric. This produces prints that are crisp, soft, and breathable. Inks are Earth-friendly, water-based, and are non-toxic. Prints are sealed with a commercial heat press to ensure the design stays put.

What do you love about being a small-business owner?

My sister and I both love the freedom it gives us to be with our family stay home with child and grandkids

What are the challenges you’ve faced being a small-business owner?

Making sure each of our customers are 110% happy with their order and always trying to go beyond what is needed. After all the customers are the heart of our business.

How do you stay motivated?

We stay motivated by the sweet comments that our customers post about our excited they were about wearing the shirts on their trip.

What do you think is unique about your store?

All the different designs and shirt colors that we offer. I am sure we are one of the few with soooo many designs. My sister does a great job.

My Thoughts on The Mouse Boutique

The Quality

The shirts are comfortable and hold their shape throughout washings. We haven’t gotten a stain yet – but with three young children, I’m sure we will test stain removal soon.

The Designs

There are so many designs, TMB could absolutely be a one-stop shop for all your customized t-shirt needs. They have RunDisney inspired shirts, park-inspired and with the ability to add your name to it you are destined to find a shirt you like.

Turn around time and communication

Working with Michele is so easy! She is quick to respond to Facebook messages and willing to help you find the best shirt for your trip.

Once the item leaves the shop it generally makes it to the customer in 2-3 days. However, since they are local to the theme parks, TMB will often hand-deliver the shirts to your hotel. How awesome is that?

How I save money on our family hair cuts.

Money.

Money. Yep, you need it for everything. Truth be told, I am naturally more of a spender than a saver. Let me insert a clip of me…😅

Okay, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. But, the sentiment is the same. I am not a naturally frugal person. I am getting better though, and one of the ways I’ve become more of a DIY girl is with my haircuts.

Saving Money with Shark Tank

I was up late one night binge watching Shark Tank, and I saw a product that allowed you to cut your own hair.😱 I was so impressed by this product and inspired to try it out that I ordered one from Amazon. I figured if I could cut my own hair, and the hair of our three children with this product for at least one time it would be worth it to try.

A haircut for my hair typically costs around 25-30 dollars and a child’s haircut is very similar in price. A creaclip retails on Amazon for $30.00 and is available on PRIME. – Yes. Please!

See how Easy!

In order to use the product, just follow a few easy steps.

  1. Brush out all the tangles in your hair.
  2. Put the creaclip on towards the top of your hair.
  3. Make sure it’s level.
  4. pull down to where you want to start cutting.
  5. Cut.

Benefits of cutting my own hair

As a mom of three very young children, I just don’t have the extra time to head out to the salon. I also don’t really change my hairstyle that often. For this season of life, I prefer my hair to have enough length to put into a braid or a bun and be on the go with my family. The Creaclip saves me TIME.

The creaclip also saves me money. Even if I only use it 2 or 3 times, I have more than broken even on the cost of the product.
